Wild Prints: Nature in Linocut

  • Barung Landcare Parkland Dr Maleny, QLD, 4552 Australia (map)

Join Megan Ruby Lee for a hands-on introduction to linocut printmaking, celebrating the rich beauty and intricate detail of the natural world at Barung Landcare.

This beginner-friendly workshop will focus on native flora and fauna found in the beautiful Barung Seed Forest in North Maleny, which will provide the inspiration for your designs.

Throughout the day, I will guide you through:

  • Observing and sketching natural forms, and translating textures and patterns into linocut designs

  • Learning the fundamentals of linocut printmaking — from carving and inking to hand-printing using a variety of papers and tools

  • Creating your own unique, nature-inspired prints to take home — ready to frame or gift

You’ll also leave with your carved lino block, so you can continue printing beyond the workshop, along with the prints you create during the session.

Whether you're completely new to printmaking or looking to deepen your creative connection with nature, this workshop offers a relaxed and supportive space to slow down, learn new skills, and engage with the beauty of the local environment.

You’ll also learn about the conservation projects taking place at the site via a guided walk looking at the diverse garden for wildlife that has been planted by Barung Landcare staff and volunteers.

What to bring:

  • An apron or clothing you don’t mind getting ink on (please note: ink may stain permanently)

  • Lunch, snacks, and drinking water
